LEOPOLD MF, MARTEIJN ECL & SWENNEN C (1981) Swimming Curlews Numenius arquata. LIMOSA 54 (4): 141-141.
Although swimming behaviour has been observed in several wader species little is known about the occurrence of this behaviour in Curlews. A description is given of Curlews forced to swim when trying to land between up-ending Pintails Anas acuta in water which was too deep for them to stand in.
