REMEEUS A & SPEK V VAN DER (2013) Third breeding record of Raven Corvus corax in the province of Zuid-Holland. LIMOSA 86 (1): 16-19.

The Raven is a scarce breeder in The Netherlands, mainly occurring in the central and eastern parts of the country. After extinction in 1928, mainly due to excessive persecution, the species was re-introduced 1936, 1966 and 1979. Only the 1966-program turned out to be successful. At this moment the population is estimated at 75-95 breeding pairs and apparently stable, but slowly expanding. A pair in Wassenaar, Zuid-Holland raised two young in 2012. This was the second breeding record for this coastal province since the reintroduction programs. The first attempt, by a pair that was bred in captivity within the 1979 program, failed. A historical breeding event in 1904 took place in exactly the same area as the 2012 breeding record.
